It took 20 years of abuse for my mom, my brother and me to finally speak up about this so please make sure you take a few minutes out of your day to read this.
Background:
My mother has been a victim of abuse by my father. Since the first day of their marriage, she has been subjected to all sorts of brutal abuse, be it physical, mental or verbal.
Neither did he spare my brother and me, nor our two dogs from it. Watching our mother get tormented and beaten up on several occasions, we felt handicapped. Before I was born, he used to kick on my mother's womb, just because it came to his knowledge that I'm a girl child. I was labelled a whore, and all sorts of disgusting slurs since I was a toddler by my father. Every time I would speak up, I was silenced by blackmailing to deny my college fees/school fees/ration. In these past 20 years, he had multiple affairs and in this course of time, he made my mom listen to the detailed descriptions of the affairs and made her read the vulgar chats which he had with those women. Furthermore, he threatened us by pinning false allegations against us and those who supported us.
Why we need your help:
We didn't speak out earlier because of the lack of financial support; we became slaves to money. My mom wanted me to complete my education, she used to comfort me by saying, "I don't want you to end up like me." There have been days we had no choice but to sleep to keep ourselves sane in hunger. The damage done to our mental health was irreparable; there were times we felt like giving up. Recently, we were pushed to the edge of losing our lives; there was no choice but to move out. No one deserves to live like this and I couldn't have seen my mother suffer anymore.
How you can help
As a 2nd-year B.Tech college student, I am trying to do whatever there is in my power to support my family of three and will need a source for survival at least till the time I graduate. The internships I'm currently doing fails to cover the minimum expenses, let alone our other expenses. My mother is a housewife and is unqualified to seek a job. This fundraiser is to help me get the minimal resources to bring our lives afloat. We're left to arrange for all our expenses including my college fees for the next 4 semesters, my brother's school fees (who's in class 11th), rent, food, electricity and other necessities for the next two years.
