This all started two years ago.
I was in college one day when all of a sudden, I felt sick and I fainted. I was rushed to the hospital immediately. The doctors ran a few tests and what they found was shocking - kidney disease!
“Stage 5 End-stage renal disease.” That’s what my disease is called. Because of this disease, one of my kidneys was failing.
After my diagnosis, I was put on dialysis. It was very uncomfortable, I used to feel nauseous each time. But I didn’t miss a single appointment because I knew I needed it to live.
I also didn’t let my disease affect my education. I continued to go to college and a year later,
I graduated with a degree in Engineering! I was happier than I had ever been!
But soon after, my disease stole this joy. I started to have difficulty breathing. Yet again, we found ourselves in the hospital for more tests.
“I’m a poor man, I work in a small shop. But I tried my best and made sure Munazza was able to receive the dialysis she needed. I thought I was saving her life. But now, I know that’s not true”, Munazza’s father said.
This time, the news we received was far worse.
“I’m so sorry, Munazza. I wish I had better news but your disease has advanced. Both of your kidneys are now failing. Dialysis will not help, long-term. Your only hope is a kidney transplant.”, the doctor said to me.
“When I heard this, I fell to my knees and started wailing. It was bad enough when we found out one kidney had failed. Two failed kidneys is basically a death sentence. How could this be happening?”, Munazza’s mother cried.
The doctors tested my parents and my brother and thankfully, they found that my brother is a match and he can donate one of his kidneys to me.
My brother was so, so happy that he could save my life. I wish that he didn’t have to undergo this complex surgery for me but this is my only option
If you have come so far, I can now tell you that the reason I’m losing hope is that we cannot afford the cost of the kidney transplant that I need. I’m running out of time.
The whole procedure costs Rs 9 lakh ($ 12345.24). My parent's only income is Rs 8,000 a month. My brother is younger than me and doesn’t have a job yet. I need help.
Please, find it in your heart to support my treatment. Nobody else will help us. Any amount that you can spare for me will be so much help. I can promise you that every bit we raise will be used only to pay for the transplant
