Munazza is my 3-year-old niece.Three weeks ago, her life turned upside down when what should have been a bruised knee turned into a life threatening form of cancer. Munazza was playing in the backyard when she twisted her leg and fell down. Unlike a regular three year old, who gets up after a fall, Munazza continued to sit right there. Her parents immediately took her to an orthopedic surgeon to make sure it was not a fracture. The doctor confirmed so, but to everyone's surprise Munazza's pain did not reduce even after medications of calcium supplements and paracetamols. The super active Munazza who used to run around the house, could barely get out of the bed.

After two days, she complained of chest pain. Her parents' rushed to the pediatric hospital in Pune. The doctor feared that she might be suffering from pneumonia. Worried, they immediately got her admitted to the government hospital in Pune.

In the second week of March 2021, Munazza kept getting high fever every two hours. Alarmed, the doctors asked them to get some blood tests done. By this time, Munazza had stopped eating or walking totally. Additionally, every day, her WBC count was beginning to drop.

Amidst all this he has run pillar to post gathering second opinions from every medical professional he knows. Munazza's silence and these opinions were just a reminder of how serious and overwhelming the situation had suddenly become.

Under the guidance of a doctor at KEM hospital, Pune, Munazza's blood work got tested positive for Pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Since that day, their world has never been the same.


The total cost of Munazza's hospital stay, medicines and continual treatment for at least 3 months cost is coming to a staggering Rs. 10 lakhs. With her parents' current income and financial capabilities, they have  managed to spend 15,000 on their own. They  do not have any insurance policy for Munazza that would cover her current medical condition.

We have been very disturbed by the seriousness of this medical emergency . We can only imagine how terrified and helpless they must be feeling right now.

Since none of us can actually be with her family to comfort and help them during this difficult time because of Covid, we have decided to come together and help out in whatever way we can.
