*Iam Mudra Dudwadkar, 22 years old and have just completed my Bachelor’s in Audiology and Speech language Pathology (BASLP) course, which is a Paramedical course and is an upcoming field in our country and have secured 2nd Rank in the entrance examination for Master in Speech language Pathology course at Bharati Vidyapeeth University, but I cannot afford to pay the fees for the same and need your help.*
It has never been an easy road for me but my mother always said that I could achieve whatever I want to in my life. I was always good at academics as well as sports. Until 12th grade, my life was more or less like a normal child in a middle class family. But in my 12th grade my father got seriously ill and after series of hospitalizations and treatments, we lost him on 26th April, 2016, just 5 days before my NEET examination. That day and the entire year before that shattered me to the core. But my mother was determined not to let me compromise on my career and I secured an admission in one of the top colleges in India for BASLP and completed my bachelor’s with flying colors. I was always in the top 3 in the entire university and also got a distinction in the first year. However, all of this came at a cost, cost of staying away from my mother and little brother who stayed alone while I was studying in Pune and cost of using up all of our savings for my bachelor’s. My mother didn’t let me face any difficulties; I also worked at institutes taking summer camps for children during my vacations.
This COVID-19 Lockdown has brought nothing but difficulties in our lives. My mother ran a small food stall and has a tiffin service business which had come to a standstill since the lockdown. We live in a rented house and not only paying rent but getting by everyday has been difficult for us. I was thinking to take up a job but getting one was difficult in this pandemic and also I always wanted to pursue higher education and reach great heights. Because I believe I have the capability to do so and also have the potential of becoming a good speech therapist. Getting a master’s degree would mean I could get a job in a good hospital and I could help my family sustain. We also went to banks for an education loan but it is not easy to get one if your family income is not stable.
Hence, I am putting this appeal out there. Please help me achieve my dream.
