Binima Das, a 54 year old teacher, is a single mother. Her only daughter, Hiya, is in college. But in 2018, this little world of hers fell apart. She was diagnosed with renal failure. After numerous visits to a multitude of hospitals, Rabindranath Tagore Hospital’s Nephrology Department, Kolkata, resorted to prepare for a kidney transplant in 2021.The estimated cost of the transplantations for both donor and donee, inclusive of pre and post care, comes to a staggering total of 20 lakhs..
Finding a donor. Procedural approvals. Medical Bills. The straining process began but with no financial options left at hand. Their only hope, that God is there, while they yearn for something good that awaits at the end of their tunnel. She has spent all her savings and has run out of all options of taking further loans or even getting help from friends and relatives. Her fortnightly dialysis became weekly and before we knew it, it reduced to just a few days.
The doctors are requesting for a transplant as soon as possible.
While there is some comforting news that the application for “No Objection” from the Assam government was approved on 19th July, the bad news is that there is still no fund available for the transplantation. Her dialysis is currently covered with the help of some well wishers. It is impossible for Hiya, the daughter to mobilize the funds. Hiya has tried all options herself but has fallen short. She can't see her mother suffering. She can’t afford to let go of her mom this early.
I am hopeful that with the help of this platform and kind hearted individuals like you, we will be able to help her pull through the difficulty of funds. A bit of your help may not create a dent in your wealth but it will certainly make a huge difference in Binima and Hiya's life. I believe that this is the best way to feel the joy of giving. The joy of giving together, for each one of us can support this cause.
I kindly request you to give whatever you can. Anything big or small would be of much help. But please pass the same to your circle because a little from the lot makes the difference count.
Please note that all the information and updates related to her treatment will be published, including the details of her case and medical diagnosis (NOC).
