    This fundraiser will benefit

    Migrant Labourers

    from Gurugram, Haryana

Project Aasha aims to reach out and help the gig economy workers most severely impacted by COVID 19 lockdown. Our goal is to provide livelihood and sustenance to migrant labourers and the blue collar workforce who lost their jobs during lockdown.

EKO who is a leading provider of money remittance services to the gig workers has joined hands with Jeevitam and Jindagi Live to reach out to these affected section of people. Using its customer remittances and other transactions history of 30 million + migrant labourers, Eko identifies the worst hit populations who are struggling and have an active bank account in so that payments can be directly facilitated.

Jeevitam is a digital livelihood platform which connects work seekers with work providers focussing on bottom of the pyramid segment i.e. migrant workers, blue collar workers, gig economy workers & construction workers. Both Jeevitam and Jindagi Live are using their network of blue collar job’s employers to help them find jobs and livelihood. As we rebuild their lives over the next few months, we look for your support to help them meet their everyday livelihood needs today.

We have seen images of tens of thousands of our fellow citizens, braving high risk of infection, lining the streets to move back home. This is worse than anything we have seen before. Even during the peak of demonetization, money remittance back to their homes in India’s towns and villages was lower by 70% but this time remittances are already down by 90%.

“They” have no safety net back home: 87% of India’s migrant labourers have very small or no land with very few employment opportunities back in their home villages. These families rely heavily on the remittances sent by their family members working in cities.

Prices are rising: As supply chains get stressed, prices for essential commodities are going up  by 20-40%.

This absolute lack of economic activity along with rampaging inflation can easily tip these families, that had stretched finances, into distress. This time really is difficult.

How is Project Aasha helping

Eko has been supporting the migrant work-force for the last 12 years with banking and remittance services across India. Jeevitham is a leading platform connecting businesses with blue collar workforce.

We want to ensure we help the neediest of our fellow citizens and ensure the money is wisely distributed. We want to do this by making direct cash transfers to those citizens who demonstrably need money the most.

By applying the rules described below of our customer base who we are certain need our help. We want to offer these customers a livelihood similar to their average monthly remittance amounts of 3000. For this project we need to raise a total of Rs. 10 crore.

How can you help?

By donating funds for the cause as per your comfort. Your money can go to an individual or a pool of people basis on the amount you donated.
