Samrock Convent School was started by Michelle Masih to help the underprivileged children of the farmers, laborers, and the blue collared workers who cannot afford the regular schools.
This journey started around 8 years back when she realized that she should do something about it and with just 3 kids she started off while she was working with one of the topmost schools, Our Lady of Snows in Manali.
About Michelle, she herself is a teacher with experience of over 21 years and her parents are from the background of the service wherein her father was a Wing Commander in the IAF and mother was a teacher in the Armed Forces.
Her concept of teaching also is exceptional as she believes that the lesser the better. Each class has around 8-10 students right now and the maximum capacity will be 25 students per class. Individual attention is given to all the children as a result all of them have picked up the concepts, language, and diction real fast.
Over the period of 8 years, she now has 100 children from kindergarten to 10th standard and all along she was financially supported by family & friends. Today post-pandemic they are facing a big crisis as the school premises they are in is a run-down place and the owner of the building is not willing to improve or renovate the premises(am attaching the pics for a better idea) He's also asking for full rent for the entire 12 months from April '20 up to March '21.
Secondly, as the pandemic was on she was only able to pay part of the salaries to the teachers who have been very patient; she needs to clear all their dues. And most importantly they need to move into a proper structure(as you will notice from the pics)for a school building which will need rent and deposit to be paid. All this needs to be done before April as the government is planning to start schools by then.
Today we are in need of funds and given below is the break up:
FUTURE RENT: 50,000 × 12 (months) April '21 upto March '22 = 6,00,000
OUTSTANDING SALARIES: 50,000 × 12 (months) April'20 upto March'21= 6,00,000
OUTSTANDING RENT(PREVIOUS PLACE): 20,000 × 12 (months) April'20 upto March '21= 2,40,000
MISCELLANEOUS (Painting, electrical fittings, stationary, furniture etc): 5,00,000
TOTAL: 19,40,000 INR
