According to a livestock survey by the central government in 2019 the population of stray dogs in Pune has gone up from 40,000 to 2,50,000 - 3,00,000 lakh in the last ten years. This has led to increase in stray accident cases, animals suffering diseases due to unclean urban habitat, dog relocations etc. Even though Pune is blessed with close to 20 animal welfare NGOs but there’s a dearth of dedicated ABC (Animal Birth Control) facilities for effective and expedited sterilization drives.

MH14 Animal Hospital under the aegis of Earth Charitable Foundation (ECF) is operating a dedicated medical unit in Wakad, Pune to treat gastro, tick fever and jaundice affected dogs. These fatal diseases are contagious and their mode of treatment is time and cost intensive. The hospital has 35 isolation units and 34 recovery units for other ailments and accident cases. ECF is now developing a state-of-the-art dedicated MH14 ABC unit with 64 cage facility to be able to conduct an average 12-15 surgeries a day. We have partnered Canine Control & Care - an NGO based in Bhugaon, Pune for conducting the surgeries. The construction work has begun in December 2021 with the kind support of the vendors.

As the construction is progressing we are now falling short of funds to take it to completion. Please come forward with your generosity and compassion towards the strays and help us build one of the best ABC unit Pune & Pimpri-Chinchwad has ever seen.
