“Vivekananda Ashram” is an Orphanage cum Underprivileged Education Centre run by Meherpur Dishari Rural Development Society, known as Dishari, with the help of villagers and lot of individual well-wishers at village Meherpur, under block Pathar Pratima in the southern part of state West Bengal which is covered by Asia’s largest mangrove forest Sundarbans.
70 children and 5 supervisors stay in the Ashram. Most of the children were found as either daily labour or beggar condition from the road sides, near railway platform, shops and brick fields. Children start their morning with Yoga and Chant; then take lunch together in the common kitchen and start study. After finishing school they play in the near play ground; then again give attention in study in night session. After finishing dinner they go to bed with the peaceful day ending chant. Thus their lives were very peaceful and joyful. Suddenly the rhythm of their lives is broken. In the CoVID19 aggression, all the grand donors stopped their grants. Many people have lost their work due to lock down. Hike the food and other daily essential product cost. In the meantime super cyclone Amphan has attacked. As a result those helpless children have been lost their only shelter. The Ashram has been almost demolished by the cyclone.
In this situation if we could rise our hand then they could fight against the joint attack of CoVID19 and post Amphan situation and again could stand by their feet within next 6 months. Therefore, help these helpless children whatever you can and spread the message widely. Fund will be transferred to Dishari as soon as it will be collected.

The devastating super-cyclone Amphan has wreaked havoc in multiple areas of West Bengal. While the affect and amount of loss is still to be realized fully, the Sunderbans is one of the worst affected zones.
We are Dishari, a small Non-profit NGO in Pathar Pratima, South 24-parganas in West Bengal. We run an orphanage and school for the underprivileged kids. We have about 70 kids currently living in our shelter which unfortunately is got destroyed in the cyclone on 20th may. Out of 225 asbestos roofing 191 is broke n to bits, large portion of the piping, wooden bench and power supply is also shattered beyond recovery.
It is a challenge now for us to provide basic shelter and food to our kids. With the COVID 19 pandemic causing price surge and lack of resources at every aspect, we are helplessly looking at a bleak and uncertain future.
It takes approximately Rs.7500/- rupees every day to provide basic food and shelter for the residents. One 8ft asbestos sheet is priced at Rs.750/-.
Therefore we need for next 6 months:
- Cost of 191 Asbestos = 191 x Rs.750/- =Rs.1,43,250/-
- Labour and other exp. =Rs.56,750/-
- Food and other recurring exp. for 75 persons for next 6 months = (75 x Rs.100/- x 180 days) =Rs.13,50,000/-
A little support can get us survive the dark days. More than ever, we are in desperate need of your kindness and support.
