Meenakshi Educational Trust for the Disabled is a non-profit organization that is engaged in empowering persons with disabilities and distress in socio-economic-cultural fronts through its various initiatives on Education, Livelihood, Environment, Health & Nutrition, Sports, Culture and Rehabilitation–MET has decided to give special attention to their rights, inclusion and opportunities. In 36 years of period, MET is abled to reach out to more than 30000 differently abled, women and children in the project area irrespective of caste, color and religion.

MET is bestowed with the membership of two major international organisations UNESCO, France and UNGC apparently focused on sustainable development of institution after we satisfied criteria and principles proposed for the charitable educational institutions

FROM THE CHAIRMAN
Meenakshi Educational Trust,Chennai was formed by late MR.S.CHANDRASEKARAN,Chairman and Managing Trustee in the year 1986.He Started Meenakshi Matriculation School in TVS Avenue,AnnaNagar,Chennai-600 101 in the year 1986 and up graded to Higher Secondary School in 1994.
Right From the Commencement of the School Meenakshi Educational Trust is providing free education for down trodden, School toppers(Above 90%) in X std Public Examinations, free college education for 12th Std toppers in the public examinations. Every year 50 students got benefited by the Meenakshi Educational Trust.
The Office of the Meenakshi Educational Trust was Taken over Charge by Dr. C.GIRIDHARAN in the Year 2011. He Started TANISH WELFARE ACADEMY ( A UNIT OF MEENAKSHI EDUCATIONAL TRUST) for the welfare of Differently abled persons.
India is home to 21 million disabled people of which 44% are women. Only 14.6 million people with disabilities in India are literate. A little over 1 million are graduates and women graduates constitute even less. While the policies, acts, schemes and institutions introduced by the government have been instrumental in effecting a significant improvement, there are still regions and people who have been left untouched.
In 2016, Meenakshi Educational Trust focused on advocating the disability rights and inclusive educational ans Sports facilities in association with various Non Government Organisations.
We are able to provide superior education facilities to the children with disabilities and from poor economic backgrounds. More than 2000 students, of which 58% are with disabilities, are pursuing education at school and college levels with the help of Tanish Welfare Academy( A Unit of Meenakshi Educational Trust)
Para Cricket Association for the Disabled in Tami Nadu had embarked a journey in 2005 to uplift the game of Para cricket and place it on an international stage. Today, the game has garnered popularity across the country and abroad. I appreciate the extensive effort of the entire unit and the hard work of the players who have defied all odds to achieve success.
We are Providing Free Training in Para athletics, Cricket (Blind, Sitting, Standing,Wheel Chair),Tennis, Badminton(Male & Female),Wheel Chair Basket ball(Male & Female) is given by him in various places of Tamilnadu.
We are Providing Computer and Vocational Training for Differently Abled Persons.
