Before I ask you for any favour, let me tell you about my story. I was born and brought up in Pune, Maharashtra. I belong to a financially weak family. My father is a civil contractor and my mother is a homemaker. My family consists of my parents, sister and me. My father is the only income earner in my family. For the past 3 years my father has not earned any income, due to the lockdown and lack of work. My elder sister was also diagnosed with cancer and my family has taken care of all her medical expenses. Currently, my family is living on the money received from our relatives and savings.
Till grade 6, I was studying in a government school which operated in partnership with Teach For India. After 6th grade, I earned a scholarship that allowed me to study at Avasara Academy which runs on a Cambridge curriculum (IGCSE) and I successfully completed my high school there. At Avasara, I received an opportunity to be on a research project with the
director of Avasara who was graduating from Harvard University. I worked with the professor at Harvard to conduct my research. I also got an opportunity to present my research internationally and in India.
While I have received a 50 percent scholarship from Sai university, I still need to raise funds for my living expenses and laptop. The total fees for my course is 6 lakhs and the residence cost is 1.8 lakhs. My school Avasara is giving me a scholarship of 1.5 lakhs per year.
Education is our right, but in the real world it has become very expensive. I want to bring a change in this world and in my family’s life. With your support I will be able to study at Sai university and keep up with the rest of the students.
