    Mauli

    from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh

Story

Mauli’s mother Krishna has had a tough life, her abusive husband left her to her own means while she was pregnant and since then she has been struggling to make ends meet. For the next 12 years, Krishna, who could never complete school, worked as a house-help to support herself and little Mauli. Their life took another devastating turn when the coronavirus pandemic made her lose all her jobs because of restricted movement during the lockdown. Even after it was lifted, people did not reinstate her as they were too afraid of letting outsiders into their homes. Eventually, the situation worsened so much that she is struggling to provide Mauli with basic necessities like food and education or get medical treatment for her own thyroid condition.

Mauli is a sweet and sincere kid who loves reading stories, solving math problems and playing with the little children in her neighbourhood. She says she wants to become a teacher and help other kids learn when she grows up.

Mauli is just one of many lives that the pandemic has destroyed. It is already incredibly hard to grow up without a father, but struggling to make ends meet, unsure of whether you would be able to have proper dinner tonight, let alone a good education is heart shattering.

We cannot reverse the difficulties that this mother & daughter have already gone through but we could help them in financially securing Mauli’s future at least to some extent by supporting her education and ensuring she finishes school.

I am immensely grateful to have your support for this cause. No contribution is big or small - please do whatever you can to help. The funds will be used to cover Mauli’s school and tuition fee along with uniform, books, food and medicines.

Thank you in advance for your contribution. I’ll be forever indebted if you could share this campaign link with your friends and family.
