We all know that a global pandemic is now raging in the world. India is also effected by the corona virus and a lockdown has been declared in the whole of India. Like the whole of India we the people of Murshidabad District is also very concerned about the spread of the virus.
We the members and friends of Karna - Subarna Welfare Society are also concerned about the plight of the people of Murshidabad who had gone to work in other states and cities of India and are stranded there. Many people of Murshidabad go to Bihar, Kerela, Chennai, Puri, Allahabad and Mumbai to work as construction workers, hotel boys, hair buyers etc. What they earn in 7-10 days they send back to their homes in Murshidabad. They have their wives, children and old parents in their homes in Murshidabad. Because of the lockdown they are unable to earn anything now. What reserve money they had they were able to survive and send some money to their families till date. But now it has become almost impossible for them to maintain themselves and their families.A list of 240 such individuals have been prepared by Karna -Subarna Welfare Society and has been sent to the honorable Chief Minister of Bengal. Information about their condition has also been intimated to the government in the toll free number that has been provided. But we have not received any response in the past three days. Probably that will take some more time. So we are appealing to people in general for help.
As per our knowledge there are 26 people stranded in Bihar, 10 in Allahabad, 125 in Chennai, 120 in Orissa 340 in Kerala and 56 in Mumbai. Amongst them the condition of 350-400 people stranded in Bihar, Orissa and Chennai is miserable. The don't have any money or food. Many of their families live in Berhampur subdivision and Beldanga who are also in a very precarious condition. The number of their family members are about 350/400. We are trying to send some money to the people who are stranded in other places and deliver some rice, dal, potatoes, baby food and medicines to the family members of these people living in Berhampur subdivision.
We are running out of funds as we are already providing food to those who are mentally unstable and loiter in the streets of Berhampore and those migrant labourers who are returning to Berhampur from various places on foot. You can contribute to our efforts from your homes by sending some money to the accounts given below which can be forwarded to the accounts to those stranded in other states and cities of India and buying food for their families in Murshidabad.Estimated Cost per ration kitRice 10 Kg @ Rs. 40 - 400/-Dal 2 Kg @ Rs 120 - 240/- Oil 1kg @ Rs 110-- 110/-Vegitable (aprox) 100/- Misleneous 150/- Total Rs 1000/- per kit bagTotal family member 400Total Cost 400 X Rs 1000 = Rs. 4,00,000/-
