    from New Delhi, Delhi

Hi, I am Mansi Chanana daughter of Gulshan Shanana, a 55 year old man who worked as a small entrepreneur at Uttam Nagar. We belong to a middle-class family like anyone of you. As you know, we the middle-class families, generally don’t have a huge saving cushion for emergencies. Same was the case with us.
My father incurred a huge loss in business in 2017. To compensate for the loss he decided to a loan. He tried everything in his limited knowledge but he finally had to take a loan from the private financers/lenders at a very high-interest rate. He expected things to go better and repay the loan in time but the situation worsened. His every penny of the earning started to go in paying the interest only.
We were kind of trapped in debt and the load of debt is very heavy for a middle-class man’s self-respect. My father was not able to see any way out. So finally, with a heavy heart in 2019, we sold off everything (house, car and every other asset) that he earned with hard work and dreams, in order to get free from this debt. But even that was not enough. Even after selling off everything, we are left with the debt of 10 lakh rupees.
After this, the expenses started to increase again but now, the house was on rent, the shop was already on rent and the situation started to degrade to new depths. Then the corona happened! It worsened the situation to an unforeseeable level. Along with this, money-lenders started to put pressure on my father. At times they would come to our home and insult us in housing-society, sometimes they would send goons to terrify us. They had even abused and harassed him at his shop in front of his customers.
We were living in high shame and fear which broke my father and he attempted suicide. Thankfully, he failed!
We have tried everything – asking loans to banks and NBFCs, asking our relatives but every gate is coming to be shut for us. We are hardly able to pull our regular expenses from the shop and my salaried income. I am scared that my father might take some wrong action again.
With no option, I have to start this fundraiser. It is not easy to ask for help to unknown people, but I am compelled. All I want is to repay this loan, so that, my father and my family can live a peaceful life, without any shame or fear. Am I asking more?
So, I would request to kindly contribute whatever amount you can. I have already arranged Rs 92,000/- and I only need Rs 3,00,000. Please help, every drop counts!
