| Who am I? Hello everyone, myself Manish Dutta, and I am from Kolkata. Here I am raising funds for paying the application fees for applying to German Universities. I have completed my 12th from Swami Pranabananda Vidyapith in the year 2018 & presently I am in the final year of BA in Political Science from Presidency University, Kolkata. I stay with my parents. My father is a private tutor & my mother is currently seasonally being employed by private data entry organizations. In other words she has no job security. In this context it becomes nearly impossible for my parents to pay the initial funds so that I can apply for these German Universities. If with your help I can successfully apply I will fund my studies with an education loan by mortgaging our staying place. I am very much confident, given my experience and passion in the field of Political Science, that I will be a successful researcher one day and help build my own country to tackle with the challenges of the 21st century. To build my carrier further in Political Science (the German Universities offer a range of courses in International Relations with a multidisciplinary approach in Law, Economics, Philosophy and Sociology), in a university in Germany. I need Rs 30,000 to apply to at least all the universities which I aspire to go to and do my Masters. The applications are done through a platform known as Uni-Assist and that requires payment in Euros. The German Universities offer their courses without any tuition fees but still I need money for making the applications. A Little About My Academic Journey and Work Experience Becoming a researcher had been always my dream ever since I joined Presidency University. At Presidency University, Kolkata, India I am pursuing my undergraduate studies with a major in Political Science and minors in Economics and Sociology (both have strong links with the research vision which I have) and I have successfully and consistently secured the highest marks in the 3rd and the 4th semester examinations. Apart from performing rigorously in studies I also wrote academic papers and have a variety of publications which I will share with you all in this platform. I also decided to intern at a variety of organizations like Asia in Global Affairs and Youth Ki Awaaz to write on various issues like gender equality, migration, democracy, free speech etc. These experiences have grown my passion to become a researcher and a writer. Additionally I also worked with a team at Center for Regional Research and Sustainability Studies to bring out the magazine named UNSPOKEN which brings out the voices of the transgender community. I also volunteered for Mission Smile NGO, Kolkata at a number of medical camps before the pandemic which helped children by providing them free surgery and medical care. I also volunteered with the NSS Cell at my university and took part in several workshops and campaigns. These were profound experiences and that is why even after physical restrictions were imposed during the pandemic I decided to volunteer online. I have volunteered at Confederation of Young Leaders, Bhumi NGO and I currently volunteer for United Nations Youth Association - West Bengal, Women for Politics and Girl Up. Here I have worked on various issues like Sustainable Development Goals, women's political participation in legislatures in South Asia and domestic violence during the lockdown. Why Am I Doing This? Coming from a lower-middle class family, I had always big dreams like this but I always had to struggle for money to fulfill even the smallest of dreams. In this new age for continuing education, one needs online access with smart devices. The first two things are a smartphone and a laptop with strong internet connections. From a very early age (when I was in class 11), I started teaching school students privately which helped me to pay the EMIs for these technologies which increased my access to all the free online courses, internships and volunteering. It also helped me to build the necessary skills to see the big dreams of studying abroad. Even after all these struggles, I have never given up on my studies. I have always been a good student at my school and I continued it when I stepped into university. I have continuously scored high in the semesters at my university.
