Prathika is an 18-year-old Sri Lankan refugee based in Mettupalayam, Coimbatore. She lives with her grandmother and younger brother. Her single mother, Mangal works in Singapore as a helper and sends money every month to support the family back home.

Mangal's entire family has been struck by COVID-19, Prathika's condition especially is quite serious and she is hospitalised. The hospital expenses have run up to INR 2.3 lakh, till date - an amount that is extremely hard for Mangal to raise.
