#JharkhandDiaries for COVID lockdown migrants returning home.
16 families - 16 stories!
These 16 families from Bokaro have seen a different kind of disaster which goes beyond COVID migrants walking back home!
On their way back - at Auraiya , UP - in a massive truck accident 12 died immediately, 1 was handicapped and 2 are fatally injured and 1 has serious injuries.
These young men were the sole providers of their families.
We have given each family 1 month's ration supplies to sustain them in the interim.
Today we are left with grieving families - who don't know how they shall eat from next month on wards!
We know that charity shall not go a long way and we have to dig these families out of their well of grief and despair and ensure that they have enough that they can live!
As a part of our initiative with "Butterfly Project Foundation" - we are focused on trying to cluster these families into 5 defined PROJECTS which will allow them to be able to earn a living.
Projects -
1. Rice Mini Mills
2. Moori Mini Mills
3. Chura / Poha Mini Mills
4. Ata Chakki
5. Masala making mini mill
The families shall be divided by area of their households and no. of people in each household - and they shall be registered as a Cooperative Society under the Cooperative Society's Act 2002
We shall be hand-holding them on:
1. Training
2. Quality and Packaging
3. Marketing of the end product (this will be done on an ongoing basis. We shall be focusing on the local markets and haats)
4. Licensing (where needed eg the Masala would need FASSAI codes)
As always - I hope that you shall help us in this endeavor in actually allowing grief and charity - to turn towards an actual sustainable living project!
Remember we have to ensure that 16 families can eat!
An old saying - if you teach the person how to fish....vs just donate fish!
We shall teach them how to fish and make them sustainable!
