Provide Auraiya Accident Victim Families a way to live life!

#JharkhandDiaries for COVID lockdown migrants returning home.
16 families - 16 stories!
These 16 families from Bokaro have seen a different kind of disaster which goes beyond COVID migrants walking back home!
On their way back - at Auraiya , UP - in a massive truck accident 12 died immediately, 1 was handicapped and 2 are fatally injured and 1 has serious injuries.

These young men were the sole providers of their families.

We  have given each family 1 month's ration supplies to sustain them in the interim.

Today we are left with grieving families - who don't know how they shall eat from next month on wards!

We know that charity shall not go a long way and we have to dig these families out of their well of grief and despair and ensure that they have enough that they can live!

As a part of our initiative with "Butterfly Project Foundation" - we are focused on trying to cluster these families into 5 defined PROJECTS which will allow them to be able to earn a living.

Projects -
1. Rice Mini Mills
2. Moori Mini Mills
3. Chura / Poha Mini Mills
4. Ata Chakki
5. Masala making mini mill

The families shall be divided by area of their households and no. of people in each household - and they shall be registered as a Cooperative Society under the Cooperative Society's Act 2002

We shall be hand-holding them on:
1. Training
2. Quality and Packaging
3. Marketing of the end product (this will be done on an ongoing basis. We shall be focusing on the local markets and haats)
4. Licensing (where needed eg the Masala would need FASSAI codes)

As always - I hope that you shall help us in this endeavor in actually allowing grief and charity - to turn towards an actual sustainable living project!

Remember we have to ensure that 16 families can eat!

An old saying - if you teach the person how to fish....vs just donate fish!
We shall teach them how to fish and make them sustainable!

Dear Donors - and Supporters of our cause - (both online and offline)

The COVID lockdown had reduced the speed of the machinery reaching us, I had updated you regarding that earlier.

The machines have finally reached! And shall start working soon!

We shall not be holding a community oriented "ceremony" - instead we shall be following all COVID protocols - and shall be holding a small gathering of 2 people from the beneficiary families.

Over and above - the machinery and the works around them we are also working on clusters to do the following for "support income" to the families of the whole Panchayat:
1. Mushroom Cultivation
2. Fishery - in tanks above the ground
3. Poultry (this shall be an experimental one - where we hope to have normal Poultry Chicken as well as Kadagnad variety) - the focus of this programme shall be egg production.

Like the machinery and small scale micro ventures - these agri oriented ventures are based on the local market around there.
This ensures that each beneficiary doesn't struggle with selling and can focus on the products - both machine oriented like ata making and agri like mushrooms.

I promise to keep you updated regarding the Agri-Oriented works also.

We are very excited regarding the involvement of local communities.
And hope to have more traction of the local people.

Looking forward to giving you more updates - once work starts and people are able to become stable.

Regards,

Dear All,

Thank you so much for the support show for the victims of the Auriaya accident - all of whom belong to 3 Panchayat areas.

Due to the ongoing COVID lockdown - we were unable to bring the machines in sooner. (The orders had been placed then itself)

But I have some good news - by the end of the Month we would have set up the planned machines - thus helping the families earn money,

The current purchase of machines:
1. Moori Mill
2. Ata Mill
3. Mini Rice Mill

We shall be going in for 2nd round of purchase of machines, only when these are delivered and actually commissioned.

I promise to send pics super soon!

Thanks again and regards always.
