Depression is caused by many reasons in young people - ranging from medical issues to generic social issues to serious ragging to sexual orientation to gender non binary to sexual abuse.

Imagine a young person  struggling to come to terms with a different sexual orientation than what is considered "normal".
Article 377 may have been set away - but the life of a 16 year old finding out and then expressing his sexuality is made hell.

Imagine if the matter pertains to sexual abuse in the home, and the mother/father dont take a positive stand for the child.

Imagine if the child is "in love" Bollywood style and faces rejection. He/she cant take it and needs to vent. Our response as a society to such a young person - "jao padhai likhail mein dhyaan do. It's not your age to fall in love"

The biggest deterrent in "cure" is the lack of acceptance of the conditions and taboos around them. And not listening...

This leads for young people to withdraw further into their cesspool of despair, and in turn pushes them towards taking this drastic step... SUICIDE.

We in Jharkhand are facing a crisis where the last 2 years alone have seen a huge jump in the number of cases reported - where a young person took his/her life.

The easiest to report is - that it was study pressure...

But no one is jumping into the depths of the problem and breaking shackles and chains around this matter.

My idea is to reach outwards to young people:
1. Establish a 24 hr helpline - with the facility of watsapp and have a system of "expert volunteers" in place to man the phones. A 1-800 kind of toll free number.
Am proposing to have expert volunteers to designate time and date and we shall announce publicly that XYZ shall be online to receive your calls.
On normal days - the response team shall be a trained team of people who shall be manning the phone lines.

2. Youth sessions in schools, colleges to help people speak out! Having people who have seen life closely and have undergone a fight with life - and come out winning...

3. Training Teachers to be the "first response" to distress in students.

4. Counseling sessions for parents to deal with issues at home. (this is very essential as parents do not seem to be in sync with the social media generation of today)

5. Create positive oriented content on Social Media Defined platforms - which shall be interactive.

We plan to pilot it in Jharkhand and then extend to all Eastern States.
