After being told she defeated breast cancer once, 32-year-old homemaker learns her cancer has spread
32-year-old Malabika Chakraborty was first diagnosed with third stage breast cancer in November 2014 at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. The West Bengal resident had been suffering from many undiagnosed illnesses for a long time before this and the diagnosis came with its own set of pain, especially ones that came with radiation, chemo therapy and hormone therapy, which she underwent in 2015.
Several treatments also piled up many bills, which amounted up to Rs. 20 Lakhs. However, Malabika and her family took solace in the hope that she will finally be able to live life normally after her cancer is removed. For a while, this was the case, but just as Malabika thought she could move on in life, she started suffering from uncontrollable cough and cold which did not respond to any traditional treatment.
A CT scan that she got done in West Bengal revealed that her cancer is back, and with a vengeance . It had tragically spread to other parts of her body including the lungs and affected her gastric functions and she was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer this time around.
