Harshida is suffering from biliary atresia, it is a condition of the liver in infants in which the bile ducts outside and inside the liver are scarred and blocked. Bile can't flow into the intestine, so bile builds up in the liver and damages it.
The doctors had performed the kasai procedure initially to bypass the bile ducts, but it did not provide relief in the longer run. The doctors have suggested to do a liver transplant as a permanent solution and it needs to be done as soon as possible, without which the child will not survive. The cost of the transplant procedure is 27 lakhs including 1 yr of observation.
