Help For Kolhapur Floods

Kolhapur has turned into a dreadful island as the monsoon rains drastically led to the flooding of the river. The condition of the city is miserable as there are almost 1 lakh people displaced and around 20,000 homes submerged under floodwater. Many people had to be evacuated from their homes filled with water as much as till the 2nd floor. They had to leave everything behind for the sake of their survival. 18 villages have been completely swept off and around 6 others almost submerged.
Poor families just witnessed their lives turn into a nightmare as they watched everything they ever earned in their entire life being washed away in one night. Let alone homes some people don't even have access to clean water, food, clean clothes. Also, close to 8000 innocent animals who couldn't call out for help have lost their lives. It's nerve-racking to watch the dead bodies of these animals floating on water.
The Army, The Navy, and NDRF teams have been working day and night to evacuate people. Volunteers are biding their lives to enter the filthy water of drainage and river, to save the lives of the people stuck in floods.
People who are trying to reach out with help are facing their own challenges as the city is covered with water from all four sides. The highways are not even recognizable as only the treetops are visible from the drone images.
In a normal monsoon, Kolhapur gets flooded when the water levels of the Panchaganga river rise to 35 ft, and it crosses the danger mark when it rises to 43 ft. But this time the river has crossed the extreme mark of 56 ft, making it the worst flood of all times.
MP of Kolhapur, Sanjay Mandlik along with Sunil Modi is organizing rescue and relief work which includes food, shelter, and medicine. We are providing clean clothes, blankets, food, clean water and a place to stay as of now. We also need to gear ourselves for the post-flood situation as the sanitation and hygiene of the city is adversely affected by the drainage water seeping into the houses. We need to equip the volunteers as well with proper medical care as they have spent so many hours and days in the filthy water.
We seek your donations to help rebuild the lives of Kolhapur people. We will ensure that the entire amount received will be only used for flood relief.
Please also share this link with your acquaintances so we can gather as much help as possible.

Dear donors,
We thank you wholeheartedly for your generous donations. As we progress in our releif work, we bring you an update of what work we have done so far and how we wish to utilize the funds.
So far, major work we undertook was food distribution during the time of displacement. We were distributing food to thousands of people twice a day for more than two weeks. Another part of our work was kit distribution to displaced families. Kits contained all the basic amenities such as grocery, cleaning material, blankets etc. Additionally we organized medical camps where tests were conducted and reports given free of cost. Alongside we received many medicines in the form of donations which we distributed among flood affected patients.
We would like to inform you all that we are requesting for a withdrawal of the entire amount. Additionally we have received offline donations as well. All these funds will be used for above mentioned activities.
We once again thank you all. The campaign stands closed.
