The Girl Up Campaign is an initiative by the United Nations Foundation, that aims to achieve global gender equality by inspiring a generation of girls to be a force for change.
The Girl Up Delhi Coalition is an umbrella body that brings together the work of 70+ Girl Up clubs based in Delhi-NCR while also advancing independent feminist initiatives year-round.
Bandhan, Girl Up Delhi Coalition's fundraising campaign aims to contribute to the welfare of the LGBTQIA+ community. As allies of the community, we wish to extend our allyship, especially in these trying times where many members of the community are trapped in unfortunate and insensitive circumstances. The community combats tremendous difficulties living in a society that has been so deeply influenced by cis-het-normativity i.e. considering gender binary notions and heterosexuality as acceptable & identified norms. Any gender identity and sexual orientation that has been deviant from this outlook has been and is still subjected to intense scrutiny, criticism, hatred, prejudices, discrimination, and often times, even violence.
Girl Up Delhi Coalition is tying up with Nazariya QFRG (a Non-profit Queer Feminist Resource Group working towards affirming the rights of queer women and trans persons) and their 'The SafeHome Project.' The NGO aims at building a safe home for the members of the LGBTQIA+ community that do not find acceptance in their 'homes'. This is not an easy task, for it requires a considerable amount of money. We wish to aid them in this process.
