The hum of a hundred conversations in the aangan is all set to return. The chai and the samosas are going to taste even better. Sipun, Kailash, Rajiv and others are working at breakneck speed to bring the entire infrastructure back up to speed again. The terrace is sparkling in the winter sun and it's just a couple of weeks to the next bazm e sukhan. Any night now the magic of a Rangadhara or a Sutradhar will take over the night. Sundays we'll see a new bustle at the organic market and the daily gaggle of TISS and Osmania students, the writers, the poets and the techies will all jostle for space as always. We love it! And can't wait for it to be all in motion again! But to get there by early March we need to raise some money. Over the last 10 months we have retained most of our staff. Even though our heroic kitchen staff were back at home in Orissa we ensured that they could make ends meet. We made sure that every bill was paid and everyone who depended on Lamakaan for their survival was somehow taken care of. We did this from mostly among a small group of family and friends. We knew everyone was hurting so we didn't ask. But reopening is a big lift. Between having everything up and running and ensuring working capital for the first few months, we estimate that we need about 10 lakhs. And that's what we are turning to you for. Our community, our extended family and all of you who make Lamakaan what it is. Let's pull this one together!!
When lamakaan closed in March last year our daily footfall was between 800 and 1000! If all of you come together the target is an easy one! It's yours! Take it back!
