It was one of the happiest days in Mala's life. Her husband Lakshman just got good job at the start of this month in Bangalore. Residing in Sira, Tumkur, Mala felt that it would be better if her husband to move to Bangalore and work from there instead of traveling 150 kms everyday.
Looking forward to a fresh start, Lakshman moved to his friend's place in Bangalore. But little did he know that the decision would cost him his life.
On his way back to Tumkur for the weekend (August 5th), Lakshman took a private car as he couldn't find any buses. The car met with a head on collision with a lorry. Unfortunately, Lakshman was seated in the front and suffered from a bad haemorrhage.
Mala got a call from the hospital at 11:30 pm in the night on 5th August and took Lakshman to many hospitals in Tumkur. Due to the serious nature of the accident, all the hospitals refused to take him in. Finally, Mala admitted Lakshman in Saptarishi Hospital after paying them a whooping Rs. 50,000 as admission charges.
The next day, Lakshman was transferred to BJS hospital. On 10th August, his nose was running water and the doctor said Lakshman needs immediate surgery worth about 10 lakhs to stabilise his condition. An anonymous private donor decided to give him 1 lakh and the family had arranged 2 lakhs. They need 5 more lakhs. Lakshman succumbed to the injuries and he took his last breath on Monday night. He is survived by his 7 year old son and a 2 year old daughter.
