Kela Devi, a mother four belonging to the nomadic Banjara community of Alwar district in Rajasthan, is the sole breadwinner of her family as her husband Ram Singh banjara suffers from tuberculosis and cannot do much work, especially heavy lifting.

She spends most of her days working as a daily wage labourer at a construction site near her village to provide food for her husband and four children. Since the COVID-19 preventive lockdown was declared, income of the family, which was anyways living in a hand to mouth situation, worsened.

This was when we, at Bal Ashram, intervened and provided raw ration for 15 days to help the family survive this crisis.
Kela Devi’s family is one of the 392 severely affected Banjara families of Rajasthan that are being supported by Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation ( KSCF) at present.
