    from Pune, Maharashtra

Komal was one of the first students who came up to me when I first started my fellowship with Teach for India. She is a bright student, hard-working, and the most determined girl you can meet. Her family of 7 lives in a 1Bhk apartment. Her mother Saroj recently brought 2 beautiful twins into the world with major complications and their finances took a big hit. The pandemic was of no help. Her father who helps run a medical store in the city of Pune had to leave and move to Rajasthan- their native hometown.
Despite the fact that they were stuck in their native village miles away from the city of Ajmer, Komal did not give up on her studies. She and her elder sister( who is a student of Avsara, Pune) studied together and made sure she hasn't fallen back academically. Sadly upon returning to the city, they had to vacate their rental home and move to another location, this was another financial hurdle that they could not overlook. Taking admission in schools took a back seat.
She is ready to sit for an exam, she has studied and is ready all she needs right now is your help so she does not lose an entire year of hard work.
We have spoken to a school nearby that is willing to admit her for the current academic year. The fee quoted by the school is 17780 Rupees. (We have 5 days for her to be admitted into the school). This might be less to you but not to her family.
Therefore, I am requesting all of you to look within and ask yourself 'Should Komal be just another number in the statistics of dropouts in the country?'
All I am asking you is to donate so Komal does not have to drop out of school. Even if you donate as little as 100 Rs that will suffice and if you find yourself in a place unable to contribute financially, please do share her story.

Any kind of help matters.
Hopefully,
Golmei Olivia
2019 TFI Fellow.
