Abandoned babies in hospitals or public places are handed over to us for our care and nurture here till they are eventually given away on adoption to some eligible couples, as per the Government's rules in this regard.
Such babies requires required medicare and treatment for the congenital ailments or contracted infections, which have to be treated in specialty hospitals. The babies are usually admitted in Sundaram Medical Foundation Hospital where top class treatment is given to these babies, who are deprived of mother's milk at their tender infancy, and so needs all the more careful attention.
Based on our appeal, the SMF has come forward not to charge for the doctor consultation and room charges towards our hospitalisation expenses.
On an average, 2-3 babies per month are getting admitted for their ailments and require intensive care of Pediatric Division at SMF Hospital, Anna Nagar, Chennai.
In addition to hospitalisation charges, many babies required to under various Medical Tests and diagnosis in specialised Diagnostic Centre for their hearing, metabolic tests. We require requisite funds to pursue the prescribed tests and continue treatment for babies.
We have to raise funds for such treatment from our donors from time to time frequently, and often we face a difficult situation when there are no funds and we plead with the hospitals to bear with us till the adequate amount is raised.
In order to be able to meet such Emergency Hospital treatment charges, and to continue to provide quality medicare for such
babies, we have proposed to create a ANGEL HOUSE - BABY EMERGENCY MEDICARE FUND with a corpus of Rs. 25 lakhs, from which we shall meet the medical expenses of our babies.
Further to our appeal about the need for monetary assistance needed to defray the medical expenses of several abandoned babies, who are entrusted to our care and nurture, A few have sent in their contributions also in response to our earlier appeal for the treatment. We extend our profound thanks for our well-wishers.
