Everything was just starting to settle down in their life. Gulabi and Chandra Mogaveera have a picture perfect family with two children, a daughter who just finished her B.A degree and a son Kiran((17 years) studying in PUC. Gulabi is a daily wager. Her Husband works in a small factory in Kundapura as a cook and works in the canteen after hours to earn a little extra. Together they earn sufficient enough to run the family.
All of a sudden Kiran started having a headache, a swelling near the ear, had fever and started vomiting. They took him to the hospital in Kundapura where they gave him basic treatment and conducted a few blood tests18. They were asked to immediately admit Kiran to Kasturba Hospital in Manipal (Udupi District). He was admitted in the hospital and tested rigorously but the news broken to them was indigestible for the family. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Family didn't believe it at first as Kiran is very active in extracurricular activities, sports and has a good scholastic performance. He was all healthy except those symptoms before the diagnosis. He requires chemotherapy and other supportive treatment for 3 years. The cost of the treatment for the same is approximately Rs. 6,00,000 (Six Lakhs) excluding the other maintenance charges. Now, one of the family members needs to stay with Kiran for his treatment and only one can work so he needs generous financial assistance. Kindly help.
