It's been a year since I have joined Teach for India, a year I have been leading 40 Grade-2 kids in Shevanta Bai Dangat school.
When I entered my classroom it was a shock for me to confront the harsh reality of the education system. These kids could barely write their own names. The gap was huge and the resources were minimal. Most of the parents of these kids survive on daily wages and are struggling to meet their basic needs..
However after a year I know that there some of the brightest minds waiting to be nurtured, and many more who have the potential to do so much more. All they need is the right kind of support.
Current Reality..The school lacks basic infrastructure. There is no Library. There's no playground or access to indoor and outdoor games as well. Every day I see my students eyes lit up when I give them story books to read or games to play.
The difference between them or anyone else in other well equipped private schools is just the kind of environment they are in, the exposure they have and the luxuries they enjoy which unfortunately, my students do not.
The fact that most of my students have one pair of uniform and cannot even afford an extra pair of shoes if torn, moves me. But what motivates me is their zeal to learn, dream and dream big!
How can you help?

I and the teachers in my school have been working to the best of our abilities to bridge this gap. We are planning to set up a library for the students where they can explore the world of knowledge and play all types of new games.
However, all this cannot be possible without your support.
We need funds for following things:-
1.Books for the library.
4. Resources for projects.
6. Arrange workshops and field trips.

I further urge you to kindly support these bright minds in whatever capacity you can and help them realize their dreams, reinstate their faith in humanity and believe that poverty does not define their destiny.
They will be extremely grateful to you. I assure you, your money will be put to its best use.
We never know what magic these kids will bring for the future of this country. :)
