NO MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL, EVERY CONTRIBUTION MATTERS
My name is Kashif and I hold an undergraduate offer at the prestigious New York University(Shanghai Campus). Since the founding of NYU Shanghai, the class of 2025 is expected to be the most competitive ever with mere 500 spots available for nearly 19000 applicants. I got admitted in the Early Decision II admissions round, making my acceptance even more cherishable.
MY BACKGROUND
I come from Kashmir and I guess that’s enough to describe my background. Due to the ongoing unrest here, the part of the community that is most affected is us: THE STUDENTS. The schools remain shut for months; The Internet gets banned so studying at home becomes a challenge too; The lack of proper guidance and mentorship makes us devoid of world education.
I had to prepare my college essays, manage LOR’s and apply for financial aid, all in a few months time. I used to travel around 75 km’s everyday because my school and tuition center were far from each other and I had to attend both. The communication ban in 2019 made it even worse. My situation was such that I was unable to take a single TOEFL practice test because of the Internet ban; I had no idea what the test looked like until I took it.
Finally, on Feb 16, around 4 am in the morning my NYU decisions came. I was nervous but I was ready for both the results. And boom, I was accepted and couldn’t hold back my tears. It was the best feeling ever.
FUTURE PLANS
I am equally fascinated by Astronomy and Artificial Intelligence. I want to fully explore these two fields. As of now, I am considering double majoring in Physics (Astronomy) and Computer Science.
WHAT I WANT FROM YOU?
The cost of studying at NYU is 73458 USD ( around 53 Lakhs INR) a year. NYU is offering me 54800 ( around 40 lakhs INR) USD in scholarship every year. So my remaining fees is around 13 Lakhs a year ( 52 lakhs for my 4 year degree) - that amount is huge for my family.
My father is a contractor but he hasn’t received his funds for the last two years. The COVID made it even worse. Without any external help, it will be impossible for me to go to NYU.
I need your help in making this dream a reality, so please contribute. Even a single penny matters to me.
