2. A Short Introduction:
HSW Trust was started by a body of committed people who had come together with the vision Of working among / for the organisation and development of the rural underprivileged and the discriminated sections of society. During the past few years, HSW Trust is doing the development activities in a small way covering 30 villages. The activities were need based and did not cover all sections of dalit community (dalits are people who are socially stratified as untouchable) and irulas community.
3. Details of the target groups:
There are 196 dalit families (Dalit are socially stratified as untouchable) and tribal families (Irulas) in Pachamalai tribal hamlets in Trichirappalli district. The Irula who eke out existence by catching snakes and rats and collecting honey to make their livelihood. They are in extreme poverty with hunger and have not sustainable employment opportunity. Most of the Dalit are unorganised manual workers that daily wage agricultural labours, construction workers, truckers and helpers and bricks kiln workers for a meagre wages and with unlimited time of work to prevent on increasing number of school drop out, we conduct an evening tuition centre in the same village for the benefit of more than 100 children. Due to nationwide lockdown from March 24 to June 30, 2020 these unfortunate people have lost their livelihood suffer a lot in hunger hardship and mental agony. In such a critical situations, the least amount of Rs.1000 (11) some dry ration given by the state government as Covid-19 relief is hardly no sufficient to manage the remaining days of lockdown (Till June 30, 2020). Our more concern is for the 107 tuition centre children of the target area.
