I'm Brijesh Masrani. I'm currently in Surat- Gujarat, along with my wife taking care of my mother in law at SMIMER hospital. She is diagnosed with Black Fungus post-Covid.
I am raising fund for Kamlesh Bhoshle, who is admitted to the same ward next to us. He was Covid-19 positive on 4th April and recovered at home but then got affected by Mucormycosis (commonly known as Black Fungus).
He was admitted to SMIMER Government hospital in May and got operated on for Black Fungus. He has undergone surgery on May 24th; doctors had to remove his 7 teeth and take out fungus from the nose and hard palate in the mouth. Thanks to government support, he has been given 28 doses of Amphotericin B, which is low on shortage and very costly.
He is recovering well and will be discharged on 21st June. As the final treatment procedure, he has been prescribed an anti-fungal tablet called Posaconazole for 90 days - daily three times. The tablet has run out of supply at the government hospital, so they need to arrange it independently.
Each tablet costs ₹500, and they need 270 of those in 90 day period. So totally, they would need ₹1,35,000 just for medicine. I am raising 1,50,000, so they can sustain the next 3 months before they both can join back work.
Kamlesh works as a rickshaw driver and occasionally works as a chauffeur(Which is affected due to Covid), and his wife Jayshree does household work. They have two kids who are in school and an elderly mother to take care of. They earn around 10,000 per month, out of which 4,500 goes for house rent. They have exhausted all savings in the last two months for checkups and diagnosis, and earnings have stopped since April.
Kamlesh needs a little support from us to complete his treatment and go back to everyday life.
I request you all to come forward and contribute to this fundraiser to support his family in this challenging time.
