    Kamala Kanta Mishra

    from Bhubaneswar, Odisha

It’s with a very heavy heart we share the tragic news that we lost our dearest friend Kamala (Kamala Kanta Mishra) on Jan 13, 2022. We were all shocked beyond belief and heartbroken upon hearing this news.

About Kamala:
Kamala was a loving husband to his wife Sanghamitra, a caring father to his son Yash, and a responsible son taking care of his family. A joyous, warm person, a great friend who always believed in giving it back to society. He has touched many lives around him personally and professionally with his caring & helping attitude.

Kamala’s Career:
Kamala graduated with distinction in Electrical engineering from College of Engineering & Technology, Bhubaneswar and later earned his MBA in Operations Management from IGNOU. He started his professional career with a brief stint in academics, later joining Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL). Most recently, he was promoted as Deputy General Manager and was looking forward to his new role with added responsibility. As friends, we couldn’t have been prouder watching him graduate from a meritorious student to a respectable corporate position through his ability and hard work.

About the Fundraiser:
This fundraiser is an effort from Kamala’s friends, to fund the educational expenses of his son Yash who is a child prodigy.

Yash is a class XI student at KIIT International School, Bhubaneswar. National topper in the NSTSE (National Science Talent Search Examination), his academic performance and achievements are nothing short of stupendous. Yash has represented India at NASA, USA and has also been awarded the Mathematics Genius Award. He represented India in Mathematics Olympiad in Singapore and UK, bagging the Gold Medal at SASMO (Singapore & Asian School Math Olympiad) consecutively for two years, 2016 and 2017 (Ref 1). Winner of 400 prizes and 200 odd medals, Yash has also been awarded with the Exceptional Achievement award in the field of academics by the Government of Odisha (Ref 2).

Yash received the prestigious Bal Shakti Puraskar (Ref 3, Ref 4) from President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind in 2020. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also tweeted about Yash’s achievements, effusive in his praise (Ref 5). As a proud father Kamala always made it a point to share Yash’s academic achievements among his friends and sought their blessings for his future.

While nothing can fill the void in our lives, as friends the least we can do is to celebrate Kamala’s life and come together, to do the little we can, to help his family. His legacy shall live in our hearts and minds forever!

Om Shanti !!
