Mother of a girl fighting for her life at a hospital in eastern India's Jharkhand, is seeking funds for the urgent treatment of her daughter.

Kajal Kumari, 16, a resident of Bokaro, met with an accident on May 31, then left her father dead on the spot.

The said accident took place at Basanti More under Harla police station limits. Apart from Kajal's father, another person, identified as Matal Singh also died on the spot.

Kajal was rushed to the Bokaro General Hospital. She was referred to Samford Hospital in Ranchi three days later.

Sita Devi, the distraught mother, says she has lost everything.

"Kajal's father was taking our daughter for tuition when they met with an accident. Her father died on the spot, while they rushed her to the hospital," she said.

"Kajal's condition is very serious," she added.

Speaking about the family's financial condition, Sita Devi said that she cannot afford her daughter's treatment.

"My husband was the only earning member in the family. We don't have a son. I have two daughters, Kajal is the oldest," she said.

Sita Devi said that she hasn't heard her daughter's voice for 14 days, since the time of the accident and misses her a lot.

Lakshman Mahto, Kajal's father, died on the spot following the accident. He used to work on the field and ran his family with the money he made.

"My husband would make Rs 200- Rs 250 a day. What can you do with that money?" Kajal's mother asked.

She said that Kajal, a student of Class 12 at S L Arya School, was conceived 15 years after her marriage.

"I spent a lot of money. Visited a lot of doctors and only then was I able to conceive Kajal. She is a very good girl and lucky for us.

"God gave us Kajal after so many years and now wants to take her away..." Sita Devi said while breaking down.

The 16-year-old would often talk to her parents about her ambition. She had promised to not marry and take care of her parents by securing a job.

"Kajal wanted to study English, so her father got her admitted there. She was empathetic towards her father's labour and would often talk about taking care of us during our old age." she added.

Recalling the fateful day, Dita Devi said, "He [her husband] told me that he's going to drop off Kajal at her tuition. He asked me to take care of the field and said he would join later... Then the accident took place and he died on the spot."

As news spread about the accident, several people came forward and donated some amount of money. A total of Rs 1 lakh (USD 1,278) was raised and handed over to the family. Sadly, Kajal needs a lot more than that.

According to doctors, she has suffered multiple facial fractures and needs to undergo plastic surgery and OMFS (oral and maxillofacial surgery).

The whole treatment would cost Kajal a whooping Rs 20 lakhs (USD 25,566).

The mother broke down several times while making the plea for help.

"I cannot survive if she is not there," Sita Devi said, while asking for donations from benefactors.

With her husband- the sole breadwinner of the family- gone, Sita Devi is counting on Good Samaritans, who will be able to empathise with her situation and help her monetarily, enabling the grieving wife and distraught mother to provide the urgent treatment for her daughter.
