Kela Devi, a mother four belonging to the nomadic Banjara community of Alwar district in Rajasthan, is the sole breadwinner of her family as her husband Ram Singh banjara suffers from tuberculosis and cannot do much work, especially heavy lifting.
She spends most of her days working as a daily wage laborer at a construction site near her village to provide food for her husband and four children. Since the COVID-19 preventive lockdown was declared, the income of the family, which was anyways living in a hand to mouth situation, worsened.
This was when we, at Bal Ashram, intervened and provided raw ration for 15 days to help the family survive this crisis.
Kela Devi’s family is one of the 392 severely affected Banjara families of Rajasthan that are being supported by the Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation ( KSCF) at present.
Details of items in a pack of dry ration kits are mentioned below
The total cost of this pack comes to Rs. 1200
Meanwhile, in Delhi, our organization is providing 200 cooked food packets prepared in our social kitchen to migrant laborers on a daily basis, along with providing raw ration to those who cannot afford it. In the community kitchen, the cost of food packet in which we are providing one vegetable or Dal along with either Puri or Rice and cost comes to Rs. 30 per day per meal.
Thus we would like to increase our capacity of distribution of Dry Ration to 2000 families in NCR Delhi and distribute cooked food to 500 families through our Community kitchen.
Donation of Rs. 1,200 can help provide ration for one family for a month. Please come forward and support as many families as you can.
Any amount, howsoever large or small, is appreciated during these difficult and trying times.
