Hello I am Bharani, I am supporting this campaign for K.T. Srinivas, a bright student at Sastra University. He is in his final year of Mechanical Engineering and our support will enable him to complete his undergraduate program, become an asset to his family and to the country as well.
Hear his story in his own words:
My name is K.T. Srinivas. I am a final year Mechanical Engineering student studying at Sastra university at Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu. I have been interested in knowing how machines are made to work from a very young age. Due to this reason I have always been passionate about Mechanical Engineering and think of operating those machines in future. This laid the foundation for me opting Mechanical Engineering in B.Tech.
Since my childhood I have been told by many people that in order to fulfil my dreams I have to become a merit student so that I can get into a good university for engineering. I put in persistent hard work and obtained a GPA of 9.7 in my tenth class. Later on I thought of pursuing my 11th and 12th in CBSE board but due to insufficient funding I joined in State Board (Sri Chaitanya Junior College) where I was offered a 50 % fee concession for my performance in tenth standard. I was happy with this opportunity, and I looked for ways to crack JEE-MAINS so that I could secure admission to a reputable university. I could not afford to enroll into any coaching classes or tuitions, instead started my own preparation for both board examinations and JEE-MAINS. I got 982 out of 1000 in board exam and I qualified JEE MAINS with an average score. I appeared for other entrance exams such as VIT exam and EAMCET as well, but with my scores I was unable to secure a government seat in any local engineering colleges. My family's economical situation would not be able to support the expensive fee structures in private colleges, but through a relative's support I was able to take admission into Sastra college based on my 12th class score and JEE-MAINS score. At present my CGPA is 8.3 and I am among the top 10% students in my university. I am an organizer for technical events of mechanical branch and I am a coordinator in NSS in my university.
To fund my education, I applied for an education loan in Bank of India for 2 lakhs, which I plan to repay after graduation. Paying hostel and mess fee was another obstacle, so I applied for many scholarships and was granted National Scholarship (NSP) and also Dean Scholarship from Sastra university for my academic performance. All these helped to cover expenses until my 3rd year. Unfortunately, my family has exhausted all of our resources and in COVID situation my father has been unable to find stable earnings. Therefore I request you to open your hearts and support me in completing my education. Your help will allow me to meet tuition expenses of INR 151,400 and boarding expenses of INR 38,000 in my final year at engineering. I will remain indebted for any help you can extend.
