Mental health has evolved into a stage where it has duly become an integral part of general health; but has it reached the part of our population that is not so affluent? The inability to afford treatment is a barrier to receiving and even seeking help in the first place, for several persons from poverty-ridden environment.

St. John's Medical College Hospital is a teaching/ general hospital in Bengaluru, south India. Our department of Psychiatry in St. John's, has been functioning for well over half a century, providing services to Persons Living with Mental Illness (PLwMI). Our focus has always been the provision of quality care to our patients.

To ensure optimum recovery, we have to coordinate with other departments to deal with the patients' co-morbid physical health issues. Along with our treatment, it becomes difficult for our poor patients to afford the concerned investigations. Subsequently, their quality of life plummets, further increasing risks of relapses or worsening of symptoms.

This fundraiser attempt is to cover funds to assist the deserving PLwMI in continuing medical and psychosocial care to ensure steady quality of life.

We request help of all kinds, all amounts, and all heartfelt contributions towards making the life of Persons Living with Mental Illness, as better and as longer as we can. Because mental health, is for all.
