This is to inform you that since 1995, Janvikas Samajik Sanstha an NGO is working as a development organization in Beed district of Marathwada of Maharashtra. Its intervention is for the women, children, agriculture, farm and migrant labour from 350 villages of Beed.
JVSS till today had supported the people affected by Drought and natural disasters.
The Beed district is known as a district providing sugar cane cutter labour and this is mainly due to the vagaries of the nature. The community depends on agriculture which is suffering due to scanty rains and the continuous drought for last five years. The district is economically backward and poverty is spread all over especially it is very much visible in the villages and semi urban areas. More than 2500 farmers have committed suicide due to unproductive land and indebtedness. This forces more than 60% of population to migrate for sugar cane cutting.
Impact of COVID – 2019:
More than 7 lakh sugar cane cutters who have returned to their native villages are without any economic support.The farm labour, destitute, widows, support less, NT, DNT, Pardhi, Lamaan poor Community are without and work resulting in no food and purchasing capacity.Members of these families and children are hungry.
Along with this insecurity of food and livelihood, the health issue is serious. The poor are not in a position to afford the medicines, masks, sanitizers and not aware of the seriousness of CORONA
