Kimaya Pandi has always been an active kid. She would jump around, climb trees and talk non-stop. She always had something to say and she made sure that people in the house listened to her. Art and craft fascinated her a lot. Whenever she was at home, she would draw or try to craft something out of the old newspapers.
She once made a paper bag and gave it to me. It was so beautiful. Kimaya Pandi cheered up everyone. Whenever it was time to eat, she would drag everyone and make them sit together so that everyone could eat as one small family.
However now, she is shuttling between home and hospitals for her treatment. At such a young age, her life has turned completely upside down and we can’t stop fearing for her life. What has she ever done to deserve this fate?
Everything happened so suddenly that we could not understand anything.
On 11th May 2020, Kimaya Pandi complained of high fever. Her gums were also bleeding. We had no idea what was happening so we decided to visit the hospital. Numerous tests were conducted and after hours of waiting, the doctors explained the situation to us.
“Kimaya Pandi is suffering from Fanconi anemia, a severe blood disorder. Her platelets and haemoglobin are low. We need to immediately start blood transfusions but she will need a bone marrow transplant as a permanent cure.”
The doctor’s words completely broke me from the inside. It was too much to take in all at once. I was shocked and angry, millions of emotions were going through my mind. My sweet little daughter was going to suffer a lot and I was helpless.
She had to visit the hospital frequently for her treatments. During this period her health kept getting worse. She had to be hospitalized twice for 10-15 days. For a free-spirited girl like Kimaya Pandi, being bedridden and staying away from her family made her extremely sad.
She used to cry, she pleaded with me to stop the pain and begged me to take her home. I would just try to console her, give her hope that things will soon be fine, even though I myself had no idea.
It has been 2 months and the hospital has found a donor but we are not in a situation to pay for the transplant. We are told that the treatment will cost INR 3000000.00. My husband worked in a printing press but ever since the lockdown, he has not been able to work. He has not even received any salary in these months
We have no source of income now. We have already taken huge loans, borrowed money from our relatives but now no one can lend us more. We are at a stage where we are not sure how we are going to eat tomorrow.
We have no means to pay for Kimaya Pandi’s treatment and save her. We need your help. Every contribution from your end will make a huge difference in Kimaya Pandi’s life. Please donate generously.
The specifics of this case have been verified by the medical team at the concerned hospital. For any clarification on the treatment or associated costs, contact the campaign organizer or the medical team.Charity No: 81689895
