Red Dot Initiative started during lockdown in India due to dramatic rise in the cases of domestic violence.
National Commission For Women reported, the total complaints rose from 116 in the first week of March (March 2-8), to 257 in the next week (March 23-April 1).
98% of domestic violence cases go unreported due to fear, threat or societal pressure. Red Dot Initiative started to break the silence and seek help. The victims came out in large numbers by placing a red dot on the palm to get support from anyone.
We created this as a symbol for seeking help for domestic violence and rescued many victims. Now we are working towards re-purpusing their lives by making them financially independent through upskilling and uplifting their livelihoods so that they can sustain themselves.
