India celebrates 75 years of independence this year. The hallmark of independent India has been the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution. These values define the essence of Indian culture: respect for diversity of cultures with a sense of unity and togetherness. The Indian Peoples’ Theatre Association (IPTA), founded in 1943, was born out of the Indian freedom struggle with a slogan – Peoples’ Theatre Stars the People – asserting that the diverse culture of diverse peoples must be at the heart of a pan-India cultural organization. As an organization, we endeavor to cultivate and promote the idea of India as embedded in the Indian constitution through bringing the artists and art forms from different parts of India together in our organizational activities and performances. For us, this is an integral part of nation-building.
Preserving and promoting cultural diversity is our commitment. In continuation of this tradition, IPTA is organizing a workshop of youth, ‘DHANAK- Unity of Diverse Cultures’ from 22nd July to 24th July 2022 in Daltonganj, Jharkhand. About 100 young artists from more than a dozen states will participate in this workshop. The purpose of this workshop is to provide exposure to the youth of different regional art forms, encourage them to appreciate the diversity, and promote creative collaborations, true to the composite culture of India.
Seeking support from people to organize IPTA events is another way for us to take the message of unity in the cultural diversity of India forward. Please join us in our efforts towards nation-building through preserving and promoting cultural diversity.

भारत इस वर्ष स्वतंत्रता के 75वीं वर्षगाँठ मना रहा है। स्वतंत्र भारत की पहचान भारतीय संविधान में निहित मूल्यों से हैं। ये मूल्य भारतीय संस्कृति के सार को परिभाषित करते हैं: एकता और एकजुटता की भावना के साथ संस्कृतियों की विविधता का सम्मान। भारतीय जन नाट्य संघ (इप्टा) का गठन भारतीय स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के दौरान 1943 में एक नारे के साथ हुआ था - जनता के नाटकों की नायक जनता ही होती है (पीपुल्स थिएटर स्टार्स द पीपल)। इसकी पृष्ठभूमि में यह विचार है कि विविध लोगों की विविध संस्कृति ही एक अखिल भारतीय सांस्कृतिक संगठन के केंद्र में होना चाहिए। एक संगठन के रूप में, हम अपनी संगठनात्मक गतिविधियों और प्रदर्शनों में भारत के विभिन्न हिस्सों के कलाकारों और कला रूपों को एक साथ लाकर भारतीय संविधान में निहित 'भारत' के विचार को विकसित करने और बढ़ावा देने का प्रयास करते हैं। हमारे लिए यह राष्ट्र निर्माण का एक अभिन्न अंग है।
सांस्कृतिक विविधता को संरक्षित करना और बढ़ावा देना हमारी प्रतिबद्धता है। इसी परंपरा को जारी रखते हुए झारखंड के डाल्टनगंज में 22 जुलाई से 24 जुलाई 2022 तक युवाओं की एक कार्यशाला 'धनक: बहुल संस्कृतियों का एका' का आयोजन इप्टा द्वारा किया रहा है। इस कार्यशाला में एक दर्जन से ज्यादा राज्यों के लगभग 100 युवा कलाकार हिस्सा लेंगे। इस कार्यशाला का उद्देश्य युवाओं को विभिन्न क्षेत्रीय कला रूपों के बारे में जानकारी प्रदान करना, उन्हें विविधता की सराहना करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करना और रचनात्मक सहयोग को बढ़ावा देना है, जो भारत की समग्र संस्कृति के लिए जरूरी है।
इप्टा के कार्यक्रमों को आयोजित करने के लिए जन समर्थन और जनसहयोग मांगना हमारे लिए भारत की सांस्कृतिक विविधता में एकता के संदेश को आगे ले जाने का एक और तरीका है। इसलिए कृपया अपना सहयोग देकर सांस्कृतिक विविधता को संरक्षित करने और बढ़ावा देकर राष्ट्र निर्माण की दिशा में हमारे प्रयासों में शामिल हों।
