Our country is struggling to deal with the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic as rising cases are leading to curfews and lockdowns across India in a desperate attempt to curb the spread of the virus. These circumstances, coupled with a nation-wide shortage of oxygen, medicines, and beds, have resulted in a rising mortality rate especially among underserved and disadvantaged populations such as weavers and artisans. It is increasingly clear that they cannot afford to fight this disease. They cannot afford healthcare.
In an effort to bridge this gap, I am trying to raise funds to cover insurance premiums that will help weavers, artisans and auto drivers to access and afford treatment. This will include two insurance schemes – Covid-19 Insurance and Hospital Cash Insurance (includes Covid-19). These insurance will be provided through Go Digit and Aditya Birla Health Insurance respectively.
My goal is to provide 1000 weavers, artisans and auto drivers with insurance cover over two phases. In Phase I, I hope to cover 500 beneficiaries by raising INR 3,00,000.
