I am Harshad Gupta, Under-graduate student pursuing Bachelor’s in Technology (Biotechnology - IV Sem). Recently, I have been selected as one of the 500 delegates from all over the world through a rigorous screening process for the HPAIR Conference (The Harvard Project for Asian & International Relations) among other young minds which will be held at Nazarbayev University, Nur-Sultan (Astana), Kazakhstan from August 16,2019 to August 20,2019.


Family Background - I come from a lower Middle-class family where my father is Insurance Agent & my mother is housewife. My parent’s income which is around INR 30k ($432) which gets disbursed as Loan Instalment (INR 15200) and rest INR 14800 in living expenses, health insurance etc. While I give tuitions to senior secondary school students to contribute for some part of funds for my annual college fees (INR 1,08,100).

Why I want to attend HPAIR Conference?
I am selected for Environment and Sustainability track which aligns with my passion and my field of study. Being a passionate environmentalist, HPAIR conference will provide the best platform to connect and collaborate with global network of like- minded individuals from the globe who are constantly working for environment. This opportunity to interact and discuss with young leaders will immensely help me in preparing for my future endeavour as an environmentalist. As I am planning to open NGO along with 3 other members while two of them are professors of mine who have experience of working on environmental problems. We would be working on creating awareness especially among the school students related to the environmental problems through solution-based workshops which they could implement easily. Also providing platform for them to build own solutions of their own to implement in the real world through our youth4youth initiative within that.
HPAIR is truly going to serve as a great learning platform for my dreams and is definitely going to be a door for my future endeavours in the field of environmental actions/ pollution control & social entrepreneurship.

Previous experience of working for environment

I am a passionate environmentalist, who built a natural air purifier (eHopeWall) to combat environmental pollution and as a substitute for electronic air purifiers (eHopeWall – was conceptualized utilizing reusable and low cost products like weeds, used plastic bottles, jute rope, bamboo, dried grass and low cost moss with record of reducing 40% moisture content to its nearby sorroundings). The environment which we all share needs our immediate attention and collective efforts if we want to preserve it for our coming generations.
