Jaya Chaitanya is an active & smart young boy studying in 10th standard. He was a helpful and friendly soul, always willing to help family and friends. His family consists of his brother and parents.
On Sunday, the 21st September, 2019,  he was climbing stairs at his house, and went still, as he suddenly realized that he could not place another step forward. He called his family for help as his feet gave away. Completely incapacitated, he had to be carried by his parents into his house.
His legs were paralyzed instantly, shocking his family. They realised that Chaitanya was unable to move both his feet, and could not walk at all. After the initial shock, they rushed him to the hospital, where he was immediately admitted.
After thorough investigations, doctors concluded that he has Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS). He was immediately shifted to Acute Medical Care Unit in Yashoda hospital, Secunderabad for further treatment.
Doctors are administering Jay Chaitanya with Immunoglobulin injections, along with other medications. He is put on CPAP, and oxygen support, as he is having severe difficulty in breathing. He is also undergoing physiotherapy, but hasn’t regained any movement in his feet yet.
This young playful and lively boy, who is supposed to be going to school and having a fun-filled life, is bed-ridden, fighting with life in the hospital, staring at the machines that are being used to pump life into his frail body.
The estimated cost for immediate treatment is more than 10 lakh Indian Rupees. Chaitanya needs rehabilitation for a minimum period of 4-6 weeks under continuous medical supervision. After which, he is advised to be under observation for a period of 2-4 months to decide the future course of action.
Right now, the family and his friends are devastated, while the hospital bills are piling up monstrously.
Chaitanya’s father works in a small private firm and is the only earning member of his family. Mother is a home maker and his brother Charan, is pursuing his Bachelors in Commerce. The family do not have any assets, except for the father’s earnings. They cannot meet the expected medical expenses and also further rehabilitation requirements, and medication cost, which would be around 25 lakh rupees.
