    This fundraiser will benefit

    from Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh

While the focus on the world and the country is on the big urban centres and their needs like ventilators, concentrators etc., people in the rural hinterlands of Uttar Pradesh are suffering in much larger numbers wherein the health infrastructure in form of Community Health Centres and Primary Health Centres has completely collapsed. There the need is much more basic, simple medicines like Paracetamol is a luxury. Thermometers are scarce and FaviFlu is non-existent.
This is where we are trying to intervene. There are many brilliant initiatives to help in the cities but very few in rural areas. We have operated in rural UP for nearly 2 decades now in the districts of Rae Bareli, Unnao and Lucknow plus adjoining districts. During Wave 1 we distributed monthly rations to more than 10,000 families and Gurukul was the largest containment centre in Rae Bareli catering to 400 people.

For us again its a call to action! Please join hands with Gurukul to help the rural poor fight COVID - People who are below poverty line in rural UP and have no presence in either traditional or social media.

We will provide COVID kits to the people who do not have access to any proper healthcare. The kit includes 30 Vitamin C tabs, 30 Multivitamin tabs, 10 Paracetamol tabs, 10 Masks, 1 Dettol Soap and 1 Hand Sanitizer, lasting one month ! The original kit cost is INR 430 but we have worked with a hospital supplier who has agreed to provide us the kits for  INR 125 (~$2 USD). Our initial target is to distribute 12,000 kits.

We will also support with ambulances, additional medicines, oxygen concentrators for Community Health Centres at block levels so that the poor too can be served in this pandemic.

This is a genuine initiative supported by IIM,IIT and Harvard alumni.
