A Sad Reality:
Arjun, a graduate student from Beed, struggles to get a decent employment opportunity and trapped in the vicious swamp of alcohol and mental health issues.
Youth in the district of Beed in Maharashtra, which has a consistent record of high farmer suicide because of poor support to small farmers, are challenged with high unemployment, mental health issues and stress.
COVID-19 has worsened the conditions with the nation-wide lockdown leading to the economic crisis, especially in places like Beed.
We dare to challenge this toxic status quo.
GramUrja and Churning Joy Foundation have joined hands to lead the development of Atma Nirbhar Maharashtra by building the capacity of rural youth to be rural entrepreneurs and leaders.
GramUrja is a nonprofit organization with a core belief that the masses have the power to bring change and sustain that change. We want to bring back the lost glory by empowering the youth of Maharashtra to be entrepreneurial leaders. We have been working for the last 3 years with the people of Beed District as the Chief Minister Fellows.
In this campaign, we seek your support to lay the foundation of the Gram Udyami program to nurture rural youth to discover better livelihood opportunities through entrepreneurship. Our ambitious goal is to empower 500+ youth, in the next 5 years, who will lead the Atma Nirbhar Maharashtra.
Program Cost and Impact Model:
1. Gram Udyami is a zero fee program for its participants.
2. Cost per participant is Rs. 20,000 (Rs. 5,00,000 for 25 participants)
3. The direct benefit to the community of Beed is over Rs. 6,00,000 in a year through the livelihood generation by our participants (we are expecting job creation of at least 5 people through one Gram Udyami enterprise).
4. Indirect ripple impact and blessings are limitless :)
We promise to send regular updates on the growth of the community and participants at least every quarter.
