Running for a cause
I ( Mahalakshmi Ponnusundar ) , Age-14 , studying 9th std in Delhi Public school, Hyderabad.
I came to know from my father that Tree Bank managed by Mullaivanam uncle was unable to distribute the tree /saplings to required people. He distributes them without any cost and the reason he could not continue was - break down of his distribution vehicle ( TN10AC4847 ). I felt as if a great work stopped for a very simple reason. I further asked my father how we could help Mullaivanam uncle in continuing his noble work. Having read about many lessons and articles on environmental crisis and climate change in the current world, I felt that any little help for protection of nature will be a wonder. The solution was to lend him a helping hand financially and get his vehicle fixed. Also, I decided to let people know about his good deed which certainly passes a deep message to every one of us and can help in getting more support.
Thus, I made a choice to crowd fund Mullaivanam uncle in getting his vehicle repaired and also to plant more trees. To achieve this, my father gave an idea to raise money by running for a cause. Since it benefits the participants and the cause, I am planning to run a 10KM to my capacity at “THE UNIVERSITY OF HYDERABAD CLUB RUN “on 23rd Feb 2020. I have gathered the details of the work done by him throughout and got convinced that all the help provided to him would benefit the planet towards a greener future.

A brief description about Mullaivanam uncle
Gopal Mullaivanam is a daily wage labour and has Economically very poor background.However he has made former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s ‘Green Kalam Project’ as his life mission, though he has been distributing plants to people free of charge for a long time now. His vision is to plant trees and help reverse some of the effects of global warming, and with this mission, he started the ‘Tree Bank’ in Chennai in 2008. In appreciation of his work Dr . Kalam presented a Tata mini van and Gold medal from his own fund to him in the year 2010. His daily activity can be viewed in Facebook " Mullaivanam Tree bank Gopal "
