    This fundraiser will benefit

    Gangarevamma

    from Bengaluru, Karnataka

My mother Gangarevamma is a recognised and an award winning primary school Government teacher who has served in the position for more than 25 years.
She was actively taking part in Vidyagama, an initiative taken by Karnataka government to reach education at student's doorstep during Covid first wave. She continued her duties as the second wave started as well.
On April 20th she was tested positive for Covid 19 and was home quarantine. After a week's time, her saturation dropped to 80's with CT scan Covid severity 20/25. We struggled to get a hospital bed with oxygen and finally admitted her to Shreya hospital for a week and was discharged after feeling better.
In a week's time,  she started developing severe headaches and face swelling. We were directed to a Neurologist suspecting a blood clot in the brain. They ruled out it after her first MRI scan, but they found a sinus infection and referred her case to an ENT specialist.
We reached out Deepak Haldipur, Trustwell hospital, Bengaluru. After ENT consultation and an endoscopic procedure in Trustwell hospital, she was confirmed to have a sinus infection with no fungal trace. She was treated with anti-bacterial IV-based injections for the next 2 weeks. Her infection only got worse over the days and she was recommended to go through FESS surgery to remove the infection on May 22nd, her histopathology report after surgery indicated fungal presense in her infection. The surgery did not fully remove her pains, her condition only got bad with continued headaches, face swelling with an added unbearable pains inside her mouth (upper palate and teeth).
Further tests and scans revealed that the infection has penetrated through her upper palate and has fully infected it. This time the doctor's said that the only option left is to perform Maxillectomy to remove her upper teeth and entire palate. The surgery is to be followed by 7 vials of anti fungal injections per day for the next 30 days to avoid the spread of fungus further more. The cost of each vial is 7800. Our family has spend upto 15 Lakhs over the last 2 months and the cost for her treatment and hospital stay going forward is estimated upto 25 lakhs for the next 1 month.
Please help us save our Mother with any contribution you can extend.
She will be retiring from her service as a teacher on the 30th of June, 2021 as she turns 60 on the 20th of June. She was nothing but excited and was looking forward to her retirement life.
