Siddu has been working since a very young age. He has worked for as less as Rs. 200 a day to support his family of 4 sisters, 1 brother and mother. His father died of suicide when he was just in 4th standard. He could not continue his education after 10th due to financial constraints. Finding work has been a challenge for Siddu -- employers hesitated to employ him because while he dresses as a man, his female voice, they feel, would turn customers away.
It is difficult for Siddu to visit hospitals because of the scrutinisation that happens with his body. Once he met with an accident that hurt his right hand; when he went to the hospital, the doctor asked him to remove his shirt to check for wounds. He couldn’t do it, and left the hospital without treatment. Even today, Siddu is unable to use his hand properly.
Siddu feels that a top surgery would enable him to visit the hospital for his medical needs, take public transport, and even apply for better paying work. His current salary is low. He lives in a rented house with his partner who does daily wage work, and does not make enough for both of them. They are being pressured by their owner to pay rent. He lacks funds to continue his HRT treatment.
The breast removal surgery will enable him to travel for work, get the necessary medical treatments, and spend time with his friends with comfort.
am plan to undergo bilateral mastectomy (breast removal) in 15th October 2021 in Bangalore, as the HRT medication may impact our metabolism or bodily functions. We need Rs. 1,50,000 for the surgery. Please contribute and share this message widely”.
