At DEATH's door, funeral workers endure bad pay, high risk, long hours as covid-19 rages with NO PROTECTION.
Despite working in such close proximity of Covid-19 infected bodies, Funeral workers have not been considered as frontline workers.
A severe second wave of COVID-19 is sweeping across India and the country’s healthcare system is overwhelmed. The number of new cases are crossing 300,000 every day and the death toll is increasing which touched 3915 on Saturday, April 23. Worsening each day.
India needs help right away and many people around the world are asking how can we help! So we want to raise money and give it to the needy...The cremation ground workers who are working at EQUAL risk as our doctors by being in direct contact with the covid victims but without any protective gear or safe working conditions. The cremation grounds are currently filled with infected people but the funeral workers are fighting and helping with no protection. Due to this, they not only put themselves but their families as well at a big risk. And even after compromising with their own safety and working for longer hours, these workers are struggling to meet their basic needs at home due to the small amount they are being paid. These people put themselves at risk to give a final and respectful farewell to our loved ones, thus we must come to their aid.
